MotherProof.com, a website dedicated to helping women and moms navigate the automotive world based on features most important to them and their families, announced the winners of its 2009 Family Cars of the Year Awards today at the Washington Auto Show.

With carpool responsibilities, grocery-store runs and drives to grandma’s house, it’s sometimes hard to believe a mom ever gets to park her car. In fact, a MotherProof.com survey revealed that, on average, moms spent 405 hours in their cars in 2008. That’s equivalent to nearly 17 days. The survey also showed that only 35 percent of moms plan in advance for a day behind the wheel.

Cruising around in the latest hybrid may be the most visible demonstration of how eco-savvy one is, but the mom-reviewers at Mother Proof know there are other ways families can go green on the road without buying a hybrid.
