Recall Alert: Audi TT, TT Roadster and A3

Oct 09 2009 by Jennifer Newman

Volkswagen is recalling 10,200 Audi A3, TT and TT Roadster vehicles that were built between Sept. 29, 2005 and Aug. 26, 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Yes, we know that TT and TT Roadster aren’t mom-mobiles — well, they are if you leave the kids at home with a sitter &mdsah; but the A3 can be a great fit for a small family.

The cars are being recalled because the closing force of an internal spring of the fuel tank ventilation valve isn’t strong enough to hold the valve closed. Under extreme driving, this could allow fuel to leak and if an ignition source is present, could lead to a vehicle fire.

Audi dealers will replace the fuel tank ventilation valve with an improved valve free of charge.

For more information, owners can call Audi at 800-253-2834 or NHTSA at 888-327-4236.

Audi quality is as we all know is missing in the all AUDI designs. I have an A6 and the check engine light has been on for months. The dealer can not even figure out why it is on. The engine blows dark smoke out when starting and never burns clean. And the dealer thinks it is ok. I paid 50 grand for 1970’s chevy. On the last service the AUDI deal dented my hood. And they won’t own up to it. For this kind of service I should have a bought a Hyundai, although I think they would care more than Audi. I even told Audi about the situation. Never heard back from them.
