Recall Alert: 28,350 Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant-Safety Seats

Jul 28 2009 by Jennifer Newman

Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling 28,350 Maxi-Cosi Mico infant-safety seats because of a problem with the base, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall affects Maxi-Cosi models 22-371, 22-372 and base-only model 22-515. They were manufactured from July 2007-February 2008.

It could be difficult to attach or detach the infant-safety seat from the base because it may be warped. If the infant-safety seat’s shell is improperly mounted to the base, a child could be injured in the event of a crash.

Dorel Juvenile Group will notify all registered owners and send a new Mico base to them free of charge. Mico owners who haven’t registered their car seat should call the company at 877-657-9546 to find out if they’re affected by the recall.

Pahola,
If you’re unsure if your infant-safety seat is affected by this recall, you can call the company toll-free at 877-657-9546.

I called your toll free hotline and gave them my infant car-seat model # and to my surprise it was not included in the recall.  The sad part is that I was not aware of the recall and only decided to call your toll-free # because I was having issues attaching the car-seat to the base. We have only been using the car seat for 4 months. We don’t even use it that often since we try to keep our baby at home as much as possible being that she’s so young. Can we get a replacement base since it is defective even though it is not included in the recall?

Marty,
Getting in touch with the company is your best bet. MotherProof.com is not associated with Maxi-Cosi or its recall. We’re merely alerting parents that these car seats have been recalled.
