How to Screw-Up Mac and Cheese; DadGoneMad.com
As the mother of two young boys and the wife of an excellent cook, I think it’s important that kids learn how to cook. I’ve known too many adults who are at a loss in the kitchen. Of course, I’m not perfect. My husband recently banned me from roasting chicken after I’d undercooked it again. We all make mistakes when cooking and I think that’s why I find this post by Danny Evans of DadGoneMad to be so funny. Danny writes about one of his first attempts as a teen to make dinner for his family. After reading this post you’ll think twice before digging into a bowl of macaroni and cheese.

An Open Letter to Summer, Part 2; Parenting.com
When I was a kid, summer seemed to last forever, but now it’s gone in a flash. Shannon of Rocks in my Dryer says goodbye to summer in this post. “You’ll be missed. We have consumed our weight in popsicles, and our hair still has that summery-blonde streaking that will surely not make it to October. We’re still enjoying your tomatoes. We’ll miss the long breakfasts and the spontaneous trips to the movies.”

School Schedules and Sleep; Motherlode
I’ve warned my oldest son that we’ll be shifting his sleep schedule into school mode, which means no more sleeping in or delaying his bedtime. I want to get his body clock ready for school. I also want to stop the hourlong bedtime routine that involves the boys popping out of their rooms for water, bathroom breaks or just wandering around. Over at Motherlode, blogger Lisa Belkin offers tips on getting your kids back onto their school-sleep schedule.
