Momosphere: 7.24.09, BlogHer ’09 Edition
Jul 24 2009 by Jennifer Newman
Many members of the female blogosphere are in Chicago for the fifth-annual BlogHer conference. MotherProof.com will be there, and even I’ll be there on Friday trying to soak it all into my sleep-deprived brain. On Saturday, Kristin Varela, MotherProof.com’s chief mom, will be part of the Chevy Ride and Drive. Kristin will show you what we look for when we review a car, and then you can take a new Chevy — including a Camaro — out for a test drive in Chicago.
Here’s a look at what some bloggers have been doing to get ready for BlogHer. See you there!
My Breasts are Higher and So are My Spirits, My Mommy’s Place
I’m a big fan of Leslie and her blog. She writes about her everyday life, which has recently included her efforts to get in shape. She’s lost a bunch of weight and looks fabulous, but that means she had to hit the dreaded mall for new clothes for BlogHer. I can’t wait to see her new outfits in person, and I promise not to get stalker-y about it.
Alexa: A Field Guide, Flotsam
Alexa gives her fellow bloggers a guide to accosting her at BlogHer. “I am told that everyone at BlogHer feels slightly frumpy and socially awkward and damp with nerves, and Alexa is no exception. … But she’s not going to let this stop her from awkwardly hugging near strangers, or playfully slapping the hindquarters of women whose words she’s been reading for years. Neither should you.”
My Two Cents on Preparing for BlogHer ’09, AssertaGirl
Blogger Amy’s advice is really simple: Get out and mingle. “Try not to stick with the same group of people the whole weekend. Whenever I’ve done this, I’ve found that in retrospect I missed out on getting to know new friends.”
