T-Minus Three Weeks, A Smeddling Kiss
Blogger Velma (a pseudonym) is panicking because the school year is almost over and her kids will be home – all the time. She freely admits she’s not one of those parents who love the freedom of summer, “because it’s when I most need to step up my parenting game. The kids still need a routine, and instead of the demands of the school days dictating what we need to do, it’s all up to me.” The pressure is building.

Blogger Carrie of Bilingual in the Boonies is dreaming of a slow and easy summer with her daughter. “By the end of next week, she will be out of school and it makes me all sunshiny and warm inside to think we will have more [relaxed] days, days just puttering around like we did when she was a toddler. We used to spend countless time looking at just one worm wiggle in the dirt. It was glorious.”
It’s Not Easy Being Green, Rocks in my Dryer
As the school year winds down, many class pets are in need of a home for the summer. Blogger Shannon’s fourth-grader won his classroom lottery and received two African dwarf frogs to care for over the summer. Before Shannon’s son could enter the frog lottery, he had to convince his mom. “My son presented a compelling case, complete with bullet points and a closing argument, as to why he would like a chance to adopt one or two.” How can anyone say no to bullet points from a fourth-grader?
