Home-Sellers Add a Prius to Sweeten Deal

Hybrid Brings ‘Surge of Interest’ to Home Sale
What does it take to sell a house these days? For one homeowner, it’s a lot of patience and, possibly, a Toyota Prius.
In one of the shortest news articles I’ve read in a long time, the Baltimore Sun reports that an Easton, Md., family is giving a free Prius to anyone who buys their house.
The sellers aren’t adjusting the price of the house to compensate for the Prius, according to the Sun. Instead the sellers will pay off the Prius themselves and give the hot hybrid to the home-buyers. This gimmick has brought a “surge in interest” in the house.
Are you in the market for a new home? Would a free Prius lure you into looking somewhere you hadn’t considered? Or would it cause you to consider a home that has shortcomings that would otherwise be deal-breakers? I don’t think I would, but tell us what you would do.

I agree - but if its between comparable houses, one with a Prius and one without, I’m going with the Prius house, for sure.
Er, a Prius would “sweeten” the deal? I don’t think so. It makes total sense that they would give away their Prius, it’s a piece of crap, as probably is their house. Two peices of crap for one price.
OK, I guess your name says it all. Why do I feel like I need hand sanitizer now?

I personally would not buy a home based on a gimmick - granted this is an attractive one and would probably encourage me to look at this house. But, bottom line is if the house doesn’t meet my requirements, I’m not buyin’, Prius or no Prius.
