Ford - Warriors in Pink

Ford Unleashes Its Pink Warriors To Deliver A Powerful Message For Breast Cancer Awareness

Tested: 10/1/2006 to 10/8/2006

PinkWarrior

Pink never looked so strong! Ford’s new “Warriors in Pink” clothing line for women, men and children has a look that sizzles and a message that delivers; Eradicate breast cancer! My vow to support Ford’s persistent effort (12 years and counting as a national sponsor of the Komen Race for the Cure®) is to order a T-shirt from http://www.fordcares.com.

Ford makes an easy sale with a shirt emblazoned with a unique tribal inspired logo. Ladies, this one is HOT. Wait, the black and gray thermal for men is equally hot, encouraging men to take up arms in the fight against breast cancer as well. “The Warriors,” one of multiple symbols that adorn Ford’s product line is my personal favorite. Two bold war-painted warrior-femmes, hair ablaze, are ornamented with life-representing spirals, and in facing each other form a paired wing-like design. The logo illustrates the two faces of the cancer battle; the strength and courage required to fight cancer, and the need to “honor the angels” who have perished due to this killer. Although my purchase might seem microscopic in nature, every little bit counts and Ford generously donates 100% of its net proceeds to the Komen Race for the Cure® to fund research, education, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

What are the stakes? According to the American Cancer Society, Surveillance Research, 2004, the following figures hold true: Being female and getting older are the two greatest risk factors for getting breast cancer. In the United States, a woman’s lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is about 1 in 8. A woman’s chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 33. Out of any racial/ethnic group in the United States, African-Americans have the highest death rate from breast cancer. Among women, breast cancer tops the list as the most frequently diagnosed cancer. Is it any wonder that Ford is committed to this cause?

Thank you, Ford, for being an angel to us women. For your generous and tremendous undertaking, I will proudly don my shirt knowing that I stand shoulder to shoulder with all warriors, women and men alike, who engage in this phenomenal effort.

For more information on the Komen Foundation or the Komen Race for the Cure®, a fundraiser encompassing nationwide 5k run/walk events to raise money for the fight against this life-threatening disease, or for further information on breast cancer (and or breast health) visit http://www.komen.org or call the toll free help line at 1.800.462.9273 (1800 IM AWARE.)
