Chrysler-Fiat Deal Could Put Moms in Stylish Italian Cars
Jan 22 2009 by Jennifer Newman
Fiat makes some good-looking cars, and its partnership with Chrysler means American moms could someday sit in these stylish Italian cars.
The news of the deal, which was lost for many in the Inauguration Day hubbub, gives Fiat a 35 percent stake in Chrysler. In return, Chrysler gets Fiat’s small-car platforms and fuel-efficient engines.
I’m pretty excited about this partnership. From shoes to clothing, some of the most beautiful designs come from Italy. Apparently, Italians’ love of beautiful design carries over to cars, too. Take, for instance, the Fiat 500, an adorable two-door hatchback with rounded headlights that would be perfect for any teen driver. If you bought this car for your teen, you’d have to reserve the right to drive it whenever you felt like having some fun.
Fiat also owns Alfa Romeo, a line of cars known for their sporty elegance. Just imagine all the heads you’d turn while driving the Brera, a sleek two-door coupe, or even the Alfa 159 SportWagon, which looks so good no one would dare call it a grocery-getter.
There’s no word on how long it’ll take to get Fiat’s cars onto our shores, but it can’t be soon enough for this mom. Ciao, bella!
