Chocolate Fuels Me and This Car
Jun 03 2009 by Kristin Varela
Chocolate fuels me. If I’m experiencing a lull in my energy level in the afternoon, a little piece is just enough to perk me up, make me feel better and keep me going a little bit longer. Why shouldn’t the same technique work for a Formula 3 racecar?
Researchers at the University of Warwick in the U.K. have developed a Formula 3 racecar powered in part by chocolate waste from factories (why they didn’t send the chocolate straight to me is a big mystery, but whatever). On top of that, the steering wheel is composed of fibers from carrots and other root veggies, the mirrors are made from potato starch, the racing seats from soybean oil and the brake pads from ground cashew nuts. Yum! Is it lunchtime? That’s what I call innovation.
Check out this YouTube video of the “WorldFirst Formula 3” chocolate-powered racecar testing. The proof is in the (chocolate) pudding.
