Baby Trend Child-Safety Seats Recalled

Car-Seat Base Can Detach From Latch Anchors
By: Sara Lacey
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is recalling more than 5,700 Baby Trend child-safety seats. NHTSA has issued a recall on the following Baby Trend child-safety seats: the Magnum (model 6439), Galaxy (model 6481) and Silverado (model 6448), as well as their stand-alone bases (model S6400), that were manufactured between May 14, 2007, and April 1, 2008.
NHTSA says the wrong type of steel was used on the child-safety seats’ Latch connector, which can cause the connector to crack. In an accident, the base can detach from the Latch anchors. Owners of the recalled Baby Trend models can call Baby Trend toll-free, 800-328-7363. Baby Trend will replace the base free of charge.
I’m going to take this opportunity to remind parents with kids in child-safety seats to register your kid’s seat with the manufacturer. That way, if a recall is issued you’ll be contacted directly by the manufacturer.

Thanks for the info, Sara. As if we don’t have enough to worry about, add a constant stream of carseat recalls to the list…
