All I Want for Christmas is a $160,000 Car
Dec 22 2008 by Courtney Messenbaugh
Dear Santa,
I have a bone to pick with you. Last year I asked you for only one thing, the 2008 Lexus IS F sedan from the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. I awoke on Christmas morning and the car was neither under the tree nor was it in my garage with a big bow on it. Needless to say, I was then and still remain, completely mystified. I was a good girl — nay, a fabulous girl — last year and thought that would have been enough to get the one thing I asked for.
This year I’m a little battle-worn after birthing yet another child, dealing with a precocious 2-year-old and completing my other wifely and motherly duties. I’m asking for only one thing yet again. Don’t worry, Neiman Marcus has made it easy. Since I missed out on the IS F last year, I’d like this year’s automotive offering from the Christmas Book, the 2009 BMW Individual 7 Series Sedan. It’ll run you about $160K. Now I bet you’re wishing you’d taken me up on the IS F since that was only $68,000. The BMW is beautiful, and there are only 31 of them available (to commemorate 31 years of the 7 Series in the U.S., naturally) so you’d better step on it.
To be clear, I’d like this car with all of its accoutrements: 4.4-liter V-8 engine that’ll give me 400 horsepower to cruise through the neighborhood; 20-way heated and cooled front seats; sound-a-licious stereo and entertainment system; and deluxe-ified nav system with real-time traffic and voice activation. Of course, I must have its many safety features (I have little ones to protect, you know), including a more rigid chassis, rearview and side-view cameras, active blind spot detection and the slickly novel Night Vision feature that can detect pedestrians in the dark.
What can you do to ensure that my 7 Series stands out from all of the other mommies’ cars? I’m glad you asked because my new car shall have Neiman’s special stamp of luxury with its Champagne Merino leather interior and exclusive iridescent Diopside Black-colored exterior. Of course, I’ll go on the European adventure that comes with purchase. I have to meet my car’s makers, and who doesn’t like Europe in the spring.
If all else fails, at least bring me the Natural Rough’s Diamond in the Rough ring from the NM Book. It totally has my name on it, and it’s only $18K. Perhaps money can’t buy me love, but I already have love so why shouldn’t money buy me a few other things?
Oh, and Santa, don’t forget the children. The Karl Lagerfeld teddy bear is $1,500. We’ll need two, pronto.
Toodles and Merry Christmas,
C.

$106k or $160k?
It’s $160K. Thanks for the heads-up, DL.

My you’ve got an expensive taste. I would really hate to be Santa. haha Just kidding. I asked Santa for the $1.9 million Stradivarius violin on auction, but I don’t think Santa frequents auction houses nor divulges on how to get a $160K+ car down a chimney and under a tree. Even if one asked him to put it in the garage it’s no small task to put a car into one’s garage without making some sort of audible noise. Nonetheless, I would say that we have very agreeable taste in cars. Cha Ching <(^_^)> Happy Holidays
