L.A. Auto Show: A Car That’s E-ven Better Than a Mini
Nov 19 2008 by Kristin Varela
It’s official – the MotherProofers love a good Mini! They’re great for families with school-age kids to run around town, park in nano-sized parking spots and thread the needle in narrow carpool lanes without cracking into the college fund to gas up. But what’s even better than a fuel-efficient Mini? The Mini E: It runs solely on electric power, and it was just unveiled at the L.A. Auto Show!
The Mini E has a top speed of 100 mph, a driving range of 156 miles and only takes two hours to fully charge when using a special charging adapter. The Mini E, at this time, is a two-seater because its batteries take up the backseat, but we’ll pin our hopes on Mini making a family-friendly four-seat version for us moms. Clubman, anyone?
If you happen to live in the great cities of Los Angeles or New York, you can sign up for a Mini E Field Trial by visiting MiniUSA.com. Applications must be received before Dec. 10. Five hundred lucky people will be chosen to test-lease a new Mini E for one year. Well, you might not be that lucky, since you’ll still have to pay around $850 per month for the lease. But you’ll be part of a groundbreaking study to determine how well electric cars function for the average consumer. Eventually you’ll be creating good karma, helping to decrease our dependency on foreign oil and improving the state of our environment. Now who doesn’t want that for our children and our children’s children?

LOL, this reminds me of MR. BEAN’s CAR.. isn’t it? The difference were only that it was green (egr valve). But I admit, it’s cool and I find it efficient to own.
