MP: What’s your family situation?
I’ve been married since forever, and we have two kids, two dogs and a cat. All male. I’m so outnumbered that it’s tragic.

MP: What is your current mom-mobile?
I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey. It may not be glamorous, but it’s the most practical thing on earth and I love it. I’m planning to drive it into the ground, but one of these days I’m going to have to put an auxiliary input jack in there. I just can’t take plugging my iPod into the tape deck anymore.

MP: Do you have a favorite test-car feature?
I love the techie stuff, like iPod interfaces and Bluetooth links. I love going fast, and I love that test cars are completely grunge-free -- or at least that they start out that way.

MP: When you’re not driving your family around, what are you doing?
Reading or catching up on last night’s shows on TiVo. Occasionally I find the motivation to exercise, but mostly I’m just avoiding the laundry.

MP: If you were auditioning for a TV show, what show and role would you try out for? Considering that my favorite sport is karaoke, I’d totally audition to be the new judge on "American Idol." Since I’m too, ahem, mature to compete, I’d love to witness every performance and judge the contestants with all the snarkiness that I could scrounge up.

MP: What’s your favorite indulgence?
I have to pick one? How does one choose between cheesecake and spa days?

MP: What do your kids love about your job?
My boys love climbing around in new cars, exploring and pointing out all the cupholders.

MP: What beverage lives in your cupholder?
Diet Dr. Pepper (and yes, Dad, I know it’s not good for me).

MP: Where was your favorite family vacation?
We go to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, every year, where we stay at a place with a pirate ship in the pool. It just doesn’t get better than that.
