Meet the Moms

Kristin is the Chief Mom at MotherProof.com and a single mom of two amazing girls, ages 6 and 8. Her mom-mobile is whatever car she’s testing for MotherProof.com, and that’s what you’ll see her driving when she takes the girls to swimming lessons or school - how’s that for mixing work and family time?

Kristin does manage to find time for simple indulgences like bubble baths, dinners with friends or an hour with a good book. And she relishes the time she spends with her girls. "They still kiss me when I drop them off at school," she says, "so I’m a happy mama."

Sara is a married mother of two, and she loves her 2006 Nissan Murano, even after driving totally cool cars like the Audi R8. Of course, getting a new car every couple of weeks is the best part of her MotherProof.com job.

With her downtime ... wait, what downtime? Sara admits to daydreaming about watching a movie guilt-free, but that’s about it. She and her family did find time for a summer vacation to San Diego this year, and Sara says her son described it as the best vacation ever.

Colette Fischer is an outdoors-loving mother of two little boys who embraces family life with the enthusiasm of an adventurer taking on an untamed jungle. She enjoys camping and hiking around her home state of Colorado, aided by her current mom-mobile: a Toyota 4Runner.

When she’s not taming the outdoors (or her kids), Colette enjoys bubble baths and lattes, along with the fancy massage function she sometimes finds in test cars. That’s a feature she loves almost as much as her little boys like the buttons and dials in those test cars.

Sherrice Gilsbach is a Michigan-dwelling mom of two boys, ages 6 and 3. She drives a Saturn that dates back to the turn of the millennium, but it gets the job done - with great gas mileage thrown in for good measure.

When she’s not filling her time with typical mom duties, Sherrice loves to travel - minus too-exotic cuisine - and find time to spend with friends or just on her own. She also manages to somehow fit in work, and her MotherProof.com gig is already helping her boys learn - to be car snobs.

Emily is married with three children, but she often pulls single-parent duty because of her husband’s deployments with the National Guard. This supermom geeks out for technology; her favorite car features are navigation systems, auxiliary jacks and heated seats. (OK, that’s not techie, but they’re great in the winter.)

Like all of MotherProof.com’s mom-reviewers, Emily likes to get her kids involved in the car-testing process. Her backseat brood has become so sophisticated they no longer look just at a test car’s entertainment system -- they go much deeper into a car’s offerings. Emily’s crazed schedule doesn’t leave a lot of time for indulgences, but in her dreams they involve trips to the spa and a lawn boy named Jacques. Now that’s intriguing.

Lori Hindman is an L.A.-based mom-reviewer trying to survive in a household full of male residents, including her two sons, her husband and their pets. She drives a Honda minivan whose practicality is far more important to her than its lack of glamour.

When Lori isn’t chasing her kids around or reviewing new cars, she loves singing karaoke, eating cheesecake and relaxing at the spa. She spends more time, however, listening to her boys point out how many cupholders their latest MotherProof.com test car offers.

Married with two kids in diapers, Courtney packs her family into a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta that’s still working well for them space-wise (unless you ask the dog). She says her next car, though, will run on an alternative fuel or be powered by hybrid technology.

Courtney says she’s as neurotic as Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, on "30 Rock," but this mom-reviewer still manages to take care of her family and test-drive cars for MotherProof.com. When she can find the time, Courtney likes to travel, drink champagne and go shopping. Now that most of her clothes are instantly covered in baby spit-up, though, she says she’s only buying items of the wash-and-wear variety.
