Trends, Etiquette and Suggestions for Parkers

ParkingLotI've noticed something about parking lots: When the lot is pretty full, a spot halfway out seems like a dream (think malls during the holidays). When the lot is empty, all of a sudden that same spot is crappy and not worth parking in.

Well, not to me, actually. I'm a parker. I don't like to meander the lot looking for spaces, I just want to get out of my car and be on my way. I wasn't always like that, though — I used to be a wanderer, driving the aisles until the best spot became available. I'd only park farther away if I was late. Isn't that lazy?

My dad always used to park out in the boonies no matter where we were because he didn't want anyone dinging his doors. He never sacrificed on this, not even once, to my recollection. The distance to the destination was irrelevant, and to this day he still parks like that.

For those of you who need to park really close, do you have any secrets you're willing to share? (Spray-painting over the 'To-Go Parking Only' sign doesn't count.) Also, who gets the spot if two people are waiting on a car backing out? Is it the first driver to turn on a blinker? Is there any etiquette on this?

Lastly, would it be such an issue for malls and mini-malls to add some more trees to their parking lots, for crying out loud? It's HOT out there!

About the 2 for 1 spot problem, I would say it is usually first come first park.
If anyone dares to steal from the first comer, I am pretty sure it will suffer some cosmetic damage.

I usually park away, my legs work fine.

Never get into a fight for a spot,,, they know where you parked.
