BurpieBlocker Is for Moms Who Want it All
Jun 02 2009 by Courtney Messenbaugh
A friend of mine says there are two types of parents: those who use those shopping cart seat covers and those who don’t. I’m of the latter camp, but after perusing some friends’ baby shower registries, I’ve deduced that I’m in the minority. For those parents who want it all, I present the BurpieBlocker.
Annika Chase, a busy mompreneur, created the BurpieBlocker because it seemed she couldn’t leave her house without her infant son leaving spit-up on her suit. The BurpieBlocker is basically a burp cloth with an elastic neck strap designed to hold it in place while you’re carrying a baby over your shoulder. When you’re holding an infant, it can be tricky to get a burp cloth to stay on your shoulder — my spit-up stained collection of clothing proves this point.
The BurpieBlocker looks a little like a sideways adult bib. Since I wasn’t feeling the adult-bib thing, I came up with a few ways to use the BurpieBlocker, many of which are quite useful for life in the car. I attached it to my rearview mirror, like the modern mom’s version of fuzzy dice. It lets everyone know you’re a mom, and it’s always there for cleaning up messes in the car. I also liked attaching it to my infant’s child-safety seat where it’s always at the ready for spit-up eradication. Or you can strap it onto your diaper bag for easy access. Heck, you can even strap it onto your baby when you’re in the car; it’s just like a bib but with more surface-area coverage.
It’s got all sorts of uses, so you might want to check it out at BurpieBlocker.com. They come in a variety of patterns and are high-quality (at $15 each, they should be, right?). BurpieBlockers are made of cotton and wash up nicely. Sure, they’re a little pricier than the four-pack of Gerber burp cloths at Target, but they would make a lovely, unique baby shower gift for one of your gear-happy friends.
