Nov 18 2008 by Kristin Varela
Look out, dear readers; MotherProofers Kristin Varela, Sara Lacey and Lori Hindman are descending upon the L.A. Auto Show this week. Beginning Wednesday, they’ll report live from the show’s floor where they’ll have sneak peeks of the greatest new family-friendly production and concept cars. You can submit your questions to these three intrepid mommy-journalists in the comments section below, and they’ll hunt down the answers for you!

Hi Tiffany -
The MINI Crossover isn’t at the show, so I can’t tell you much about how it looks in person. The XC60 is great. You can check out a video I did with it at the NY Auto Show last March in our video section. I just tested out the City Safety System in that car today. It actually stopped the car for me to avoid colliding with a giant orange inflatable car in my path. Its pretty sweet. You can check that video out in a couple of weeks once we edit it.

Two new cars I’m in love with- the Mini Crossover and the Volvo XC60. I currently drive a PT Cruiser GT w/one 2-year-old son, husband and small dog- perfect size car. Not perfect mileage (but decent). Obviously, I’m one of those leaning to “interesting” in the car category and the new small crossovers are very appealing. How do these 2 really look? Cargo capacity? Projected mileage? Safety (admittedly with the Volvo this one’s a given- unfortunately so is the price tag). Any other forthcoming cars out there in the “interesting” category with both good mileage and good cargo capacity (without being the size of a school bus- sorry minivan drivers, too big for me!)
