If your family-hauler is starting to feel as tired as that swimsuit thats been pushed to the back of your closet since B.C. (Before Children), its time to update your vehicular look. Here are some (mostly) functional family cars that can make you look and feel as hot as the summer sun.
Fake Speed Bumps Dont Fool Drivers for Long
Jul 03 2008
Philadelphia and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are testing fake speed bumps across the city. It sounds befuddling at first — I mean, we all know theres a huge market for fake designer handbags and certain body parts, but speed bumps?
Mechanic Website My New Gal Pal
Jun 24 2008
A few years ago, someone rear-ended my car. I took it to an auto shop where I was quoted an absurdly exorbitant price. Lo and behold, my husband went in — same mechanic, same damaged car — and got a much lower quote. How rude!
Can Volvo Take Sneezes Out of Spring?
May 29 2008
As great as springtime is, its less-enjoyable companion for many of us is allergies. May is Allergy Awareness Month, but those of us who suffer from them are already quite aware of our allergies, thank you. Well, at least those of us without a Volvo are.

May 14 2008
Kristin Varela, Sara Lacey and Emily Hansen talked to Yolanda Vazquez of MotorWeek to let its viewers know what MotherProof.com is all about. MotorWeek airs nationally on PBS (check motorweek.org for times and channels near you). Check out the video to see our spotlight on national TV.
What Your Car Says About Your Parenting Style
May 09 2008
Here at MPGH (MotherProof.com Global Headquarters, don’t cha know), our Mom-Reviewers each drive drastically different types of cars. This is (pardon the pun) proof positive that one size does not fit all. Chief Mother Kristin is about to purchase a compact car. Courtney, mom to Harry and a soon-to-arrive sibling drives a sedan. L.A. Lori sits behind the wheel of a minivan, and I drive a two-row SUV/crossover. Emily drives a three-row SUV/crossover. That led us to wonder, what does your car choice say about you?
Volvo Commits to Injury-Proof Car
May 02 2008
Our friends at Volvo are on a quest to create an injury-proof car. This may sound like oh-so-many concept cars that appear really cool but never actually make it to production, but Volvo has given this mission some teeth by announcing a 2020 deadline.
The Re-Birth of the Glass Hatch
Apr 18 2008
You know what? I didn’t even notice that rear glass hatches had seemed to disappear until recently, when one showed up on my Toyota Highlander test vehicle. Again this week, I found one on the 2009 Honda Pilot. I didn’t realize I’d missed it until I started using it again, and remembered how handy it can be.
Saudi Arabian Women Driving Toward Equality
Apr 08 2008
I saw a thought-provoking post on Autopia awhile ago about Saudi Arabian women earning the right to drive. This was interesting to me in more ways than one. For starters, what was the religious/cultural reason for women not being allowed to drive in the first place?
Rite of Passage Changing for New Generation
Mar 31 2008
I remember the day I got my driver’s license. I felt so empowered, so strong, so in control of my destiny. At least, I did until that night, when my foot slipped off the clutch and I backed my truck into the car parked behind me.
