Courtney Messenbaugh: bio

MP: What’s your family situation?
I’m married to my hubby, Mark, with two little ones: Harry, a very busy toddler, and Francie, our newest addition.

MP: What is your current mom-mobile?
I drive a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T. I like it because it’s quick when I need it to be and always feels safe to me. So far it seems to work space-wise with my little family of four (the dog doesn’t have much room anymore, but she deals). I don’t have any real complaints about it, as it always gets me from point A to point B, but my next car will run on some sort of alternative fuel/technology. I feel sort of guilty that I’m not driving a car that takes advantage of the fuel-saving technologies that are already out there.

MP: Do you have a favorite test-car feature?
There are so many modern features that my car just missed the boat on: a backup camera, an easy iPod adapter, a DVD screen in the back, an automatic liftgate. These features make me happy and my life a little safer and easier.

MP: When you’re not driving your family around, what are you doing?
Cooking, taking care of my family, doing laundry and cleaning. When all of that’s done, I really enjoy doing yoga, hiking, skiing, playing tennis and going to movies.

MP: If you were auditioning for a TV show, what show and role would you try out for?
I would audition to play Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, on "30 Rock." The show is brilliantly written (by Fey), and I think that I’m just as neurotic as old Liz Lemon in my real life. I just don’t display it as overtly as she does. It’d probably be good for me! Also, playing alongside Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan’s hilarious characters would always keep a huge smile on my face.

MP: What’s your favorite indulgence?
Travel and champagne, though I’ve occasionally been known to indulge in shoes and clothes. Since I’m in a phase right now in which everything I wear is immediately covered in baby spit-up, though, my clothes are all wash-and-wear.

MP: What do your kids love about your job?
Mine are too young to realize what my job is, so they haven’t been able to express any opinions on the matter. I’ll keep you posted when they start expressing opinions on this and other matters.

MP: What beverage lives in your cupholder?
Water mostly, but if it’s early in the morning, a cup of tea.

MP: Where was your favorite family vacation?
Kauai, Hawaii - a perfect, beautiful paradise. But we enjoy trying new places for our vacations, so I’m sure that my answer will change as the years go on.
