The 2010 Kia Forte, a new entry in the compact-car market, has restored my faith in value. The Forte is comfy and nice-looking; it performs well and despite seeming small, fit my family and all of our gear without a problem. All of that for a car with a base price of $13,695. That certainly spells value to me.

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid - 10/29/09
MSRP: $27,625 - $27,625 | MPG: 36 Hwy, 41 CityDetails: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors
When I went to pick up the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, I thought, “Meh.” I was underwhelmed by its looks and its gray exterior with a gray interior. However, when I came out to drive it the next day, I saw a different car. The more I looked at the Fusion Hybrid, the more I liked it. So how did I go from “meh” to “awesome?” Simple, I drove it.
The 2009 Lexus GS 350 has a V-6 engine that makes 303 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. That will get you through your errands quickly, trust me! In fact, this car was fast enough that my son instructed me to “dust” people — effortlessly fly past them and leave them in our dust — while we were driving.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with the 2009 Nissan Altima. It’s functional and looks fine, but it’s got no game. As a single mom, I’m definitely lacking in the game department, and I’d like to shag a little of it from time to time.
The 2010 Jaguar XF Premium oozes quiet sex appeal, and I attempted to embody this same characteristic while I was test driving her. The best part of the XF is I didn’t have to sacrifice mom-function, pleasurable drivability, safety or luxury for those extra — albeit pricey — style points.
Months before the 2009 Nissan Versa’s arrival at my doorstep, I was eagerly anticipating test driving one of the most affordable cars in the market today. I knew it would lack frills. However, I can appreciate simplicity, so I welcomed the Versa into my driveway.
As a consumer, I’ve never considered buying a Nissan Maxima. It just hasn’t been on my car radar. After test-driving a 2009 Maxima for a week, it’s now on my radar. In fact, I give it the maximum A-plus Mommy-rating.

2009 Chrysler Sebring - 6/16/09
MSRP: $23,040 - $35,125 | MPG: 26 Hwy, 21 CityDetails: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors
While the 2009 Chrysler Sebring hasn’t been updated for this year, it still looks current. A glance through the window showed me a Dark Slate Gray leather interior with brushed metal and tortoiseshell accents. Not bad, I thought.
The 2009 Lexus IS 250 isn’t your average family sedan. Lexus says it can fit five occupants, but my family of four would respectfully disagree with that number. However, I think I’ve found its place in a mom’s life: The IS 250 is the car you get once you become an empty-nester.
My family believed the A4 was truly magical, and maybe we’re onto something. It’s sporty and powerful for the performance driver, yet safe and practical for the day-to-day driver.
