Review of the 2004 Dodge Durango

2004 Dodge Durango - 6/22/04

MSRP: $26,410 - $35,115 | MPG: 18 Hwy, 16 City

What is a Hemi? Does it make carpooling easier? Will it keep my kids’ sippy cups from leaking on the seats? No? Well then, what’s it good for?

Review of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

2005 Chrysler Crossfire - 6/16/04

MSRP: $29,145 - $49,470 | MPG: 24 Hwy, 21 City

I’ve never understood the concept of owning an impractical car just for fun. If I had enough disposable income to purchase a ridiculously expensive “toy,” I figure I could do more meaningful and important things with it (like invest in my personal flip-flop fetish). How much use can a mommy get out of a two-seat convertible?

Review of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

2005 Chrysler Pacifica - 6/16/04

MSRP: $24,615 - $36,585 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 18 City

I have a theory that most minivan moms are cat people, while SUV moms are dog people. Now, that may be a gross generalization, but follow me on this for a minute: If the Pacifica can bridge the gap between SUVs and minivans, maybe it can also bridge the gap between dog and cat lovers. That, my fellow parents, could be a starting point for making the world a better place.

Review of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

2004 Infiniti FX35 - 6/03/04

MSRP: $34,550 - $36,050 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 17 City

I, like most parents, have a slight case of paranoia when it comes to protecting my children. I drill my preschooler on stranger danger and fire safety. I also have a heightened awareness when it comes to vehicle safety, so I’m thrilled to discover that the Infiniti FX35 AWD received five-star crash test ratings across the board.

Review of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

2004 Volkswagen Touareg - 5/18/04

MSRP: $35,900 - $57,800 | MPG: 18 Hwy, 17 City

Do you ever have those days as a mother when your patience is worn thinner than your husband’s socks you’ve been meaning to trash? If you have (or have had) toddlers, I’m sure you’ve experienced the feeling of constantly being tested. Driving the Touareg was a bit like adding another toddler to my fleet.

Review of the 2004 Nissan Murano

2004 Nissan Murano - 5/04/04

MSRP: $28,300 - $30,850 | MPG: 24 Hwy, 20 City

The marketing term coined by Nissan to describe the Murano is “The Urban SUV.” It’s sleek, modern and sophisticated. Not everyone sees it the way I do, however.

Review of the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

2004 Hyundai Santa Fe - 4/20/04

MSRP: $17,999 - $25,499 | MPG: 21 Hwy, 20 City

Hyundai is known for producing budget-friendly (dare I say cheap) vehicles. The Santa Fe is no exception. The entry-level model starts at just $17,999. My test vehicle is just one step up from there and arrived with only the standard features. My first impression is that it’s a somewhat feminine, young-looking SUV sporting a curvaceous body.

Review of the 2004 Nissan Quest

2004 Nissan Quest - 4/04/04

MSRP: $24,340 - $32,240 | MPG: 25 Hwy, 19 City

At first glance the 2004 Nissan Quest appears very different from other minivans on the market. I’ll even venture to say it looks sexy. Yes, you read right. I called this minivan sexy. Nissan has done a great job at marketing this vehicle as “what women want” but did they actually have a woman test it before putting it on the market?

Review of the 2004 Volvo XC90

2004 Volvo XC90 - 1/30/04

MSRP: $34,790 - $40,965 | MPG: 20 Hwy, 18 City

My first impression of the Volvo XC90 is that it’s not your typical SUV. It appears very sophisticated and expensive. I’m a little weary about throwing kids in the back seat knowing that it will soon be littered with cracker crumbs.
