Imagine my surprise when this luxury Sports Activity Vehicle actually draws blood. When pulling off the covers to get to the Latch connectors, a sharp plastic edge slices right into my fingertip. Thank goodness for leather seats that wipe clean easily.
I wonder if the automotive journalists who wrote those other Pilot reviews ever put children in the Pilot. Since Honda claims that “The Pilot continues to lead the sport utility segment as the ultimate SUV for family adventure” it would be logical to test it in real life with a real family.
For 2005 Nissan is providing me with a loaded mid-line version of the Quest. I can’t wait to discover if I can be “bought” with the extras. Surely I’ll see through the glitz and glamour of high cost accessories and interpret the car for what it is. On second thought, I am a woman after all; a bit of bling will inevitably catch my eye.
The Hondas are coming, the Hondas are coming! Four months of phone calls and emails have finally paid off. For those of you requesting Honda reviews here they are: The CR-V followed by Accord Hybrid and Pilot (sorry, still no luck on the Odyssey). After all that waiting and build-up I sure hope they live up to their reputation of affordable, safe convenience.
Our family’s new year’s resolution for 2005 is to become more Earth conscious. For us, that means starting to recycle. I think that driving the Escape Hybrid for two weeks officially pardons me from those occasional yogurt cups I’ve “mistakenly” thrown in the garbage since January 1.
I recently traveled 300 kilometers above the Arctic Circle to test the Volvo V50 and XC90 on the ice tracks. OK, the real truth is that 13 hours in the plane each way without kids was quite appealing to me. A good book, some mindless magazines and a long nap would do any mom a world of good.
Young women today work hard, whether it’s at an office or as full-time moms. We act as chauffeurs, cooks, counselors, nurses, housekeepers, and more (in my instance, I have to give my husband credit for his amazing cleaning skills). We deserve to get into a car that feels just as good as putting on our favorite pair of jeans. The Ford Freestyle does it for me.
Range Rover has experienced a “steady sales growth, especially to very high profile celebrity owners.” Well, many celebrities are moms too, and all moms are celebrities in my book. How does this high end luxury SUV perform during its real world Mother Proof test drive?
The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited “handles the outback or the opera.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t drive to either of those places very often. Play dates and preschool are more my speed.
You might be wondering what’s with the full-sized Lego model of the 2005 Volvo XC90? Volvo has paired with LegoLand to help teach young children the importance of safe driving. What a great idea! How can I get my kids involved in that? Maybe if we start now (at ages 2 and 4) we can avoid the all-too-common “invincible new driver” syndrome when they turn 16.
