Review of the 2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited - 7/21/09

MSRP: $34,700 - $41,020 | MPG: 25 Hwy, 27 City

Details: 7 Seats, 3 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2009 Highlander Hybrid is an SUV full of contradictions. After a week of hard use by my crack team of vehicular testers — aka my family — all the contradictions boiled down to one irrefutable truth: The HiHy (as we like to call it) is one great family-mobile.

Review of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

2009 Mercedes-Benz R320 BlueTec - 7/13/09

MSRP: $47,650 - $49,150 | MPG: 19 Hwy, 18 City

Details: 6 Seats, 3 Rows, 4 Latch Connectors

This car is close to becoming the ultimate luxury mom-mobile, and it’s glamorously green with its new diesel technology, too. This crossover is so luxurious and comfortable that calling it a station wagon is just plain insulting.

Review of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe - 7/09/09

MSRP: $22,000 - $29,500 | MPG: 26 Hwy, 21 City

Details: 4 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

Although the Genesis coupe certainly isn’t built as a typical mom-mobile, there are plenty of atypical moms in the world looking for their automotive match. Read on, dear friends, and see if the Genesis coupe from Hyundai might fit the bill.

Review of the 2009 Ford Edge

2009 Ford Edge - 7/02/09

MSRP: $26,635 - $36,605 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 17 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2009 Ford Edge is the widest vehicle in its class, at 75.8 inches. No wonder I found myself asking if this car made me look fat. Needless to say, my hubby couldn’t park his car in the garage while the Rubenesque Edge was in there.

Review of the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid - 6/29/09

MSRP: $73,135 - $87,435 | MPG: 21 Hwy, 20 City

Details: 7 Seats, 3 Rows, 3 Latch Connectors

Don’t let the ginormous hybrid decals fool you; this behemoth is no planet-saver. After test-driving it for a week, I really can’t see what makes the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid so popular.

Review of the 2009 Jeep Liberty

2009 Jeep Liberty - 6/23/09

MSRP: $23,015 - $27,730 | MPG: 21 Hwy, 16 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2009 Jeep Liberty is truck-like in its maneuverability, and even seemed sluggish and had difficulty accelerating when I switched out of four-wheel drive. Its four-wheel drive didn’t perform nearly as well as I expected on the muddy river that’s normally my street.

Review of the 2009 Chrysler Sebring

2009 Chrysler Sebring - 6/16/09

MSRP: $23,040 - $35,125 | MPG: 26 Hwy, 21 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

While the 2009 Chrysler Sebring hasn’t been updated for this year, it still looks current. A glance through the window showed me a Dark Slate Gray leather interior with brushed metal and tortoiseshell accents. Not bad, I thought.

Review of the 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman

2009 Mini Cooper Clubman - 6/12/09

MSRP: $20,200 - $20,200 | MPG: 34 Hwy, 28 City

Details: 4 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

I really love the Mini Cooper Clubman, but if I were driving it every single day, I might tire of it much more quickly than I would something less toy-like.

Review of the 2009 Lexus RX 450h

2010 Lexus RX 450h - 6/10/09

MSRP: $41,660 - $43,250 | MPG: 28 Hwy, 32 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

I love the comfort and the features and how well it fit my kids and all our stuff, but when it came time to let it go, it was the drive that I really hated to see leave.

Review of the 2009 Audi Q5

2009 Audi Q5 - 6/03/09

MSRP: $37,200 - $37,200 | MPG: 23 Hwy, 18 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The Q5 broke my heart and left me crying on the side of the road. Not through any fault of its own, only because the people at Audi are mean and they wouldn’t let me keep it.
