My job as household CEO is to search for the truth behind product marketing. This ranges from instant oatmeal that promises to hatch dinosaur eggs to shampoo that claims to make my hair curlier, straighter, shinier, easier to dry, thicker, fuller, blonder, etc. It’s a full time job just filtering the good from the bad, the true from the false. It makes my day when a product actually surpasses what it claims to do. This is the case with the 2005 Mercedes E320 4-Matic sedan.
Someone recently wrote to me griping that she’s too young to drive a minivan. Us Gen X-ers are growing up and having babies. To many of us, a minivan is what our mothers drove. Heck, my mother-in-law still drives one. We are too young to drive minivans — or are we?
When I hear “Jaguar,” I visualize driving to the ballet decked out in diamonds and a mink coat. How bad could it be living that fantasy for a while?
I have a theory that most minivan moms are cat people, while SUV moms are dog people. Now, that may be a gross generalization, but follow me on this for a minute: If the Pacifica can bridge the gap between SUVs and minivans, maybe it can also bridge the gap between dog and cat lovers. That, my fellow parents, could be a starting point for making the world a better place.
Do you ever have those days as a mother when your patience is worn thinner than your husband’s socks you’ve been meaning to trash? If you have (or have had) toddlers, I’m sure you’ve experienced the feeling of constantly being tested. Driving the Touareg was a bit like adding another toddler to my fleet.
The marketing term coined by Nissan to describe the Murano is “The Urban SUV.” It’s sleek, modern and sophisticated. Not everyone sees it the way I do, however.
Hyundai is known for producing budget-friendly (dare I say cheap) vehicles. The Santa Fe is no exception. The entry-level model starts at just $17,999. My test vehicle is just one step up from there and arrived with only the standard features. My first impression is that it’s a somewhat feminine, young-looking SUV sporting a curvaceous body.
At first glance the 2004 Nissan Quest appears very different from other minivans on the market. I’ll even venture to say it looks sexy. Yes, you read right. I called this minivan sexy. Nissan has done a great job at marketing this vehicle as “what women want” but did they actually have a woman test it before putting it on the market?
My first impression of the Volvo XC90 is that it’s not your typical SUV. It appears very sophisticated and expensive. I’m a little weary about throwing kids in the back seat knowing that it will soon be littered with cracker crumbs.
