Review of the 2009 Kia Forte

2010 Kia Forte - 11/04/09

MSRP: $13,695 - $17,495 | MPG: 31 Hwy, 27 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2010 Kia Forte, a new entry in the compact-car market, has restored my faith in value. The Forte is comfy and nice-looking; it performs well and despite seeming small, fit my family and all of our gear without a problem. All of that for a car with a base price of $13,695. That certainly spells value to me.

Review of the 2009 Infiniti FX35

2010 Infiniti FX35 - 10/21/09

MSRP: $42,400 - $43,850 | MPG: 21 Hwy, 16 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

In the real world, the worst consequence to my constant game of catch-up is a laundry room full off dirty clothes and no milk in the fridge for breakfast.  In the Infiniti, the stakes were a little higher.

Review of the 2009 Lexus GS 350

2009 Lexus GS 350 - 10/13/09

MSRP: $45,000 - $46,950 | MPG: 25 Hwy, 19 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2009 Lexus GS 350 has a V-6 engine that makes 303 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.  That will get you through your errands quickly, trust me!  In fact, this car was fast enough that my son instructed me to “dust” people — effortlessly fly past them and leave them in our dust — while we were driving.

Review of the 2009 Ford F150

2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch Lariat SuperCrew - 10/07/09

MSRP: $21,565 - $36,100 | MPG: 18 Hwy, 15 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch Lariat SuperCrew impressed me with its unexpected agility and luxurious interior. Perhaps a pickup truck isn’t just for hauling heavy loads anymore.

Review of the 2009 Nissan Altima

2009 Nissan Altima - 10/01/09

MSRP: $19,900 - $29,380 | MPG: 26 Hwy, 23 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the 2009 Nissan Altima. It’s functional and looks fine, but it’s got no game. As a single mom, I’m definitely lacking in the game department, and I’d like to shag a little of it from time to time.

Review of the 2009 Toyota Prius

2010 Toyota Prius - 9/16/09

MSRP: $21,000 - $27,270 | MPG: 48 Hwy, 51 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2010 Toyota Prius gets great mileage, even for my mountainous driving, and it looks great, too. It has all of the little luxuries that most hybrids eschew as too heavy, and it can actually drive up a serious hill. You have no idea how much that means to me.

Review of the 2009 Land Rover LR2

2009 Land Rover LR2 - 9/08/09

MSRP: $35,375 - $35,375 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 15 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

With a six-cylinder engine, the 2009 Land Rover LR2’s acceleration is great, and not once did I wish for more oomph. I did wish for better gas mileage numbers, though. The LR2 gets an EPA-estimated 15/22 mpg city/highway. That’s not great, and to make matter worse, she takes premium gas. Yes, she can off-road, and yes, she’s responsive, but if you’re in the market for a small SUV, you might be surprised by the fuel economy numbers.

Review of the 2009 Infiniti FX50

2009 Infiniti FX50 - 9/02/09

MSRP: $58,400 - $58,400 | MPG: 20 Hwy, 14 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2009 Infiniti FX50 caught my eye earlier this year at an auto show, so I was excited to test drive it. I love its exaggerated features and somewhat intimidating size. I think the beauty of the FX50 is in its bold, outside-of-the-box character.

Review of the 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser

2009 Toyota Land Cruiser - 8/28/09

MSRP: $64,755 - $64,755 | MPG: 18 Hwy, 13 City

Details: 8 Seats, 3 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

When I first got into the 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser, I was offended by its size. It’s enormous, and I thought it was a lot more room than I needed. But like a pair of baggy jeans, I found myself spreading out and growing into the Land Cruiser.

Review of the 2009 Jaguar XF

2010 Jaguar XF - 8/26/09

MSRP: $51,150 - $79,150 | MPG: 21 Hwy, 16 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 2010 Jaguar XF Premium oozes quiet sex appeal, and I attempted to embody this same characteristic while I was test driving her. The best part of the XF is I didn’t have to sacrifice mom-function, pleasurable drivability, safety or luxury for those extra — albeit pricey — style points.
