Review of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

2010 Volkswagen Jetta - 3/19/10

MSRP: $18,295 - $24,990 | MPG: 29 Hwy, 30 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

I can’t decide who liked the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI more: me or my 5-year-old daughter Claudia. The 5-year-old is a burgeoning automotive journalist anxious to share her opinion about test cars, and it was fun to find out what features she liked the most.

Review of the 2010 Volkswagen Routan

2009 Volkswagen Routan - 3/16/10

MSRP: $25,200 - $38,500 | MPG: 23 Hwy, 17 City

Details: 7 Seats, 3 Rows, 3 Latch Connectors

Like an arrogant teenager, no matter how fabulous the features and gizmos the Routan threw at me, I couldn’t help but respond with a signature apathetic roll of the eyes and shrug of the shoulders.

Review of the 2010 Lincoln MKT

2010 Lincoln MKT - 3/11/10

MSRP: $44,200 - $49,200 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 17 City

Details: 6 Seats, 3 Rows, 3 Latch Connectors

The Lincoln MKT is a three-row crossover that’s based on Ford’s Flex, which is a car that I love. The MKT has the same platform and interior layout as the Flex, with nicer interior materials and an entirely new exterior.

Review of the 2010 Kia Forte

2010 Kia Forte - 3/09/10

MSRP: $13,695 - $17,495 | MPG: 31 Hwy, 27 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The Forte is a good car. But, in the words of “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell, it risks being forgettable. The Forte’s 173-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder was really peppy. Like a nervous “Idol” contestant, it was almost hyper, but I adjusted my lead foot accordingly.

Review of the 2010 Lexus GX 460

2010 Lexus GX 460 - 3/04/10

MSRP: $51,970 - $56,765 | MPG: 20 Hwy, 15 City

Details: 7 Seats, 3 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

Despite undergoing a redesign for 2010, the GX 460 looks pretty much like you’d expect a large Lexus SUV to look. It’s a little sleek, a little rugged and a little boxy; basically, it’s a little bit of everything and not too much of anything.

Review of the 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE - 3/02/10

MSRP: $60,495 - $74,195 | MPG: 17 Hwy, 13 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

This SUV is sophisticated and looks good no matter what it’s doing. With its standard all-wheel drive it was able to tackle tough weather conditions and terrain, and it also made me feel beautiful and sophisticated when my hubby and I took it downtown for date night (the hubby made me feel that way, too).

Review of the 2010 Mazda Mazda5

2010 Mazda5 - 2/24/10

MSRP: $17,995 - $23,005 | MPG: 27 Hwy, 22 City

Details: 6 Seats, 3 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The Mazda5 has a unique style that turns heads and raises eyebrows. From the outside, nobody would guess this car seats six. It looks like a sporty hatch that a trendy 20-something would drive.

Review of the 2010 Ford Flex

2010 Ford Flex - 2/19/10

MSRP: $28,950 - $42,465 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 17 City

Details: 7 Seats, 3 Rows, 3 Latch Connectors

It’s an almost impossible combination of SUV, wagon and minivan that makes the Ford Flex so easy to work with. My test model had all-wheel drive, so I had all the stability and security of an SUV, without the high climb or the roly-poly feeling in the turns. It was easy for my kids to climb in and out of it like a wagon, but it had a third row like a minivan.

Review of the 2010 Toyota 4Runner

2010 Toyota 4Runner - 2/17/10

MSRP: $27,500 - $39,800 | MPG: 22 Hwy, 18 City

Details: 5 Seats, 2 Rows, 2 Latch Connectors

The 4Runner’s new design is bolder, boxier and bulgier. Essentially, it’s an old 4Runner on steroids, and it has plenty of power and tons of features and tech. However, it felt about five sizes too big for my family of four.

Review of the 2010 Audi Q7

2009 Audi Q7 TDI - 2/10/10

MSRP: $43,500 - $59,220 | MPG: 18 Hwy, 17 City

Details: 7 Seats, 3 Rows, 4 Latch Connectors

While I still think the Q7 is about the best three-row SUV on the planet, I’ve realized that a three-row SUV is more car than I really need. However, I still loved getting into the Q7 TDI every morning, and I pointed out this good-looking SUV to everyone I met.
