Safety

The LR2 has not yet been crash-tested, but safety seems to have been an important factor in its design. In addition to the required airbags, the LR2 has side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags to protect all occupants, and a knee airbag that ostensibly protects the driver’s legs and prevents her from sliding under the lap belt. I thankfully did not have occasion to test this out, but it sounds great in the event of an accident.

Antilock brakes are standard, as is Roll Stability Control, which can detect an imminent rollover and attempt to prevent it.

As with other Land Rovers, the LR2 is equipped to drive through any type of terrain with ease thanks to its All-Terrain Response System, which is standard. It adjusts the vehicle’s engine, transmission, suspension, and stability and traction systems relative to varying road conditions to maximize traction, comfort and drivability. Snow? No problem. Rock crawling? Not an issue. Even if you’re trekking through the desert or driving through muddy waters, the LR2 will get you through in quiet luxury. I don’t make a practice of driving through mud or streams, but you’d be surprised at the crazy things weather does to the Rockies in Colorado, so having a car like this to drive around would make me feel ultra safe with my children in tow.

Speaking of children in tow, the Latch connectors were relatively easy to get to and use, which was a nice change from some test vehicles I’ve driven recently.
