Exterior
The LR2 is stylish and it fits in my garage next to my husband’s small hybrid SUV, leaving plenty of room for my children and me to get in and out. On the most basic level, this is what really matters to me. I mean, really, who wants an ugly car that doesn’t fit in their garage?
The LR2 looks a lot like a shrunken Land Rover LR3, but it has softer curves and a perkier presence. It’s sort of the cute, cool girl to the LR3’s rugged outdoorsman. This vehicle made me feel pretty good about my own looks just by association (strange but true, I promise). I wanted people to look at me whenever I was walking to it in a parking lot, and I’m quite sure they were. The 19-inch wheels that come standard and the optional body-colored bumpers only added to its sweet looks.
The LR2 is slightly shorter than the Acura RDX and BMW X3 — two of its competitors — which gives it slightly less cargo space in the rear, but there was more than enough room for this mom of two little ones.
The LR2 was a breeze to drive. When I drove the LR3 last year, I really liked it and thought it handled superbly in the mountains, but I found it a little cumbersome to maneuver around city streets. The LR2 delivered in that it was a dream to cruise around the city, but maintained control in the mountains. It was while contemplating how great this combo was that I learned the LR2 was on Cars.com’s list of the 10 Best Urban Cars. Top 10 indeed!
