The Nose Knows

OdorZout Tackles Family Car Odors and Wins
My nose is under attack from my toddler and the family dog, so I jumped at the chance to try OdorZout, a line of products that purport to eliminate odors — no matter the odor issue.
The situation is dire: I have a 21-month-old son who is constantly removing his diaper regardless of what’s in it; I am nine-months pregnant with a sense of smell to rival that of a polar bear or a shark (in case you didn’t know, they have excellent senses of smell); I have an ancient dog who smells like she’s rotting from the inside out; and I’m about to add another diaper-clad being into my life within the next few weeks. All of these things have made “P.U.” a part of my daily vernacular.
OdorZout is made from zeolites, nontoxic minerals that absorb odors, and is recognized as a safe product by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. OdorZout offers a variety of products for everything from laundry to feet to cars.
I tested OdorZout in my car. With temperatures nearing 100 degrees here in Denver, the odors in my car have been stewing and mounting a full-frontal attack on my nose and stomach. I sprinkled some of the All Surface Granules ($12.99 for an 850-gram container) on the floor of my car and after 24 hours I vacuumed it up. I noticed a big difference immediately. My nose was no longer under siege! I also left an OdorZout All Purpose Pouch ($9.99) under my driver’s seat to keep the odors from coming back — think of it as holistic preventive health care for your car and your nose. Since using OdorZout, my car has been miraculously odor-free.
If you’re accustomed to — and like — deodorizers that cover up odor with perfume, this isn’t the product for you. OdorZout leaves your environment smelling normal. This is right up my alley, because while the acrid odors that my family leaves behind annoy me, the more fragrant odors from traditional room and car sprays make me want to hurl. The smell of faux roses on steroids isn’t my thing.
So, thank you Dr. Stink (that’s what the folks who developed this are calling themselves — how can you not love that?). My nose has been liberated, and now I’m sneakily sprinkling the Foot Powder ($6.99) in all of my hubby’s shoes — let’s hope it has some super powers!

Kitty,
There is no ‘overscenting’ at all. Odorzout has no odor of it’s own. It’s basically just like a sponge that soaks out the odor.
It’s good stuff.

I guess I’m going to have to buy some of this now.
I was at a dinner party the other day and a mother there told me about this product. She uses it in her Odyssey. I was told that the granules work well on cloth seats as well.
What kind of scent does it leave? I’m rather picky about ‘over scenting’.
On the other hand, my husband put one of those cheap little Christmas tree air fresheners in my car, and when it gets hot (everyday) it does a good job of ridding the smells that lie within the carpet of my car… I’m really interested in this though.
