Roadside Assistance a Worthwhile Addition
May 05 2008 by Emily Hansen
Peace of Mind Worth Much More Than Program Costs
Insurance is one of those things you don't think about until you either need to use it or need to pay your premium. I've mentioned before that the cost of insuring a teen is quite shocking, so it might come as a surprise to hear that I really love my insurance company. More specifically, I really love the roadside assistance portion of my coverage that I've had for as long as I can remember.
In the past few weeks I've had the pleasure of needing to call my handy-dandy roadside assistance crew no less than three times. Each time I've called the toll-free number I have been greeted with friendliness and prompt service. They've sent someone to jumpstart a car, tow a car and even unlock a test car (oops) — all without any additional charge or corresponding hike of my rates.
The service is inexpensive by any standard (about $12 per year), and after the month I've had I think they could charge me a much greater rate and I would still keep it on my policy — shhh, don't tell them I said that! If you don't already have this sort of protection, you might want to throw caution and a couple dollars to the wind and live large with a roadside assistance package. It gives me peace of mind, and the value of that is immeasurable.
