Mobile Messages for Moms

Service Means To-Do List is Always Close at Hand
I never fail to return from the grocery store and suddenly realize that I’ve forgotten a key ingredient for dinner. This leads to another trip to the store, which not only costs me extra fuel but also the additional dough that somehow slips out of my wallet by osmosis whenever I’m close to the grocery store cash register (twice).
A service called Simply Mobile Moms aims to alleviate that frustration. It sends text messages or web pages to nearly any cell phone so that needed information (i.e., a recipe) is at hand whenever and wherever a busy, mobile mom (or anyone, really) needs it.
Just install Simply Mobile Mom on your PC (sorry Mac users, this is a Windows-only application), and it adds a menu item to your right mouse click that allows you to send content from the web to a cell phone in the form of an SMS message or a mobile-browser web page. Just highlight a recipe, click “add to my mobile phone,” categorize the message and send it to one or more phones.
The best part is that the entire thing is free, even the text messages. Of course, there is a small catch: Users will see ads in the application used to capture the information, as well as in their text messages. They may also receive targeted coupons from supporting advertisers.
If you’re a busy, mobile mom who uses Windows, doesn’t mind some extra advertising and is willing to install some software (all of a sudden that sounds like a lot to add to your to-do list), you may find that Simply Mobile Mom adds some much-needed convenience that’s been missing in your life. Next time, the coconut milk might make it in the grocery cart the first time — and your fuel savings in not making a second trip to the store might even offset the cost of the canned good.
