Have Faith in the Thingamapet

Thingamapet

Plush MP3 Player Holds Two Hours of Music, Audio Books

Thingamapets are cute, cuddly stuffed toys that contain an MP3 player you can load with your child’s favorite audio files. It’s instant, plush (read: safe for car travel) entertainment on the go that means your child will never again have to suffer a trip to Grandma’s without his “Teletubbies” soundtrack.

Once I figured that out, I looked more fondly upon the Thing. You see, when I received a Thingamapet for this review, I momentarily forgot what it was. I was stunned by this toy that arrived dressed in a T-shirt that read “The Lord is My Shepherd.” It took me a good 30 minutes to realize it was not an anonymous commentary on my life. My Thingamapet was a lamb, which explains the shepherd reference, and it’s also available as a bear (no word on what the bear’s shirt says).

I was skeptical at first (maybe I really do need more religion; I seem to be skeptical a lot). I thought all the fur and fluff would muffle the sound, but the Thingamapet’s sound is surprisingly clear. It’s simple to use; one foot has on/off and volume buttons and the other has play and fast-forward/rewind buttons. My son really liked his Thing (all boys do, you know) and it was great to have on longer car trips.

I should note that the Thingamapet, which costs about $50, has a speaker instead of earphones, so whatever Junior is listening to is what you’re listening to. But who doesn’t want to listen to “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” 29 times in an hour? I suggest filling your Thing with as much variety as possible (it holds up to two hours of material) so this doesn’t happen to you, and you can consequently keep the faith that you’ll retain your sanity. Have fun!

The bear reads the same thing on it’s shirt.  I love it I think it was a great idea!
