Beco Baby Carrier Makes Life on the Go Easy

Jun 26 2009 by Courtney Messenbaugh

I’m a woman in conflict. I’m often too lazy and/or late to put my gigantic stroller in the car. Although we have a deluxe stroller, my children are happier when they’re carried. Before we get in the car, I’ve been known to bypass the stroller and grab my Baby Bjorn carrier. However, this often leaves me with an aching body. How do I achieve baby-and-mama happiness on the go without hauling a huge stroller around?

I’ve discovered a solution to this paradoxical parenting problem: the Beco Baby Carrier. It addresses my lateness and laziness issues by being a lightweight, cloth baby carrier that’s easy for me to toss into the car. It addresses my body issues by having thickly padded straps, the option to carry my child on my front or my back, and an ergonomic design that distributes weight evenly.

The Beco Baby Carrier is easy to use, with a detailed, step-by-step instructional DVD that I only had to skim to get the gist of (impatience is another problem of mine). I can use it to carry my infant daughter or my toddler son (it carries children from 7 to 45 pounds), which is a huge bonus. It’s also quite stylish, coming in a variety of colors and patterns.

The Beco even withstood the ultimate toddler tantrum. While nestled in the Beco on my husband’s back (another bonus: one size fits all adults), my little guy decided that he wanted to jump into the wildly rushing river we were walking alongside. Since he’s 2 and can’t swim — never mind that even I wouldn’t have been able to survive those waters — we told him no, and he pitched a gigantic fit. Legs and arms were flailing, his back was arching, his teeth were showing and his head was spinning, but the Beco didn’t budge an inch. Talk about full service.

The Beco now has a permanent place in my car. I’ve ditched the stroller and use this wherever we go. Learn more at BecoBabyCarrier.com. It sells for $140, and it’s worth every penny for the use and comfort you’ll get out of it.
