Grippy SmartPad Contains Car Clutter
Nov 26 2008 by Kristin Varela
An extra arm implant should come standard with any hospital visit resulting in the birth of a child. OK, that’s not going to happen, but I’ve found the next best thing for busy moms who need an extra hand in the car. It’s the SmartPad, a nontoxic silicone pad that sits on your dashboard and grips whatever you put on it.
Plunk the SmartPad, available at the Container Store for $9.99, on your dash and throw almost anything on top of it that you’d normally keep in your cupholder, and free your cupholder to hold — wait for it — cups. Lip gloss, toll transponders, the neighbor’s house key, loose Polly Pocket shoes and a multitude of other items now have a new home. And you can easily move your SmartPad around. I recently used mine to keep my iPod from sliding all over an airplane tray table.
Little pieces of lint and crumbs tend to stick to the SmartPad, but a quick rinse under warm water returns this little gem back to its original state of loveliness. Just like my kids at the end of the day.
