If your family-hauler is starting to feel as tired as that swimsuit that’s been pushed to the back of your closet since B.C. (Before Children), it’s time to update your vehicular look. Read on, dear friends, the mom-reviewers here at MotherProof.com have recommendations for (mostly) functional family cars that can make you look and feel as hot as the summer sun.
1. Mini Cooper Clubman: What’s not hot about this slightly bigger offering from Mini? Purists might argue there’s no point in a maxi-Mini, but we say it’s still cute, customizable and shockingly family-friendly. (Note: It’s best for kids in booster seats and older.)
2. Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe: When we tested these cars, we were pretty sure people were looking for a cute college chick sporting the latest H&M fashions to be driving them. Psych! These cars, which share a platform, are young and hip and hauled our families around without breaking the bank.
3. Toyota Prius: Sure, it’s green. It also comes in sassy colors, has loads of cargo space and spends an average of only four days on dealership lots. We dare you to find something hotter this summer.
4. BMW X6: Whether you love its looks or not, this new offering from BMW will get you noticed everywhere you go. It’s functional, it’s a Beemer and it’s sizzling.
5. Honda Odyssey: Maybe you’re not out to impress anyone with your mad transportin’ skills, but with this pinnacle of minivans you can be the envy of yourself — and every other mom on the block.
6. Buick Enclave: All curvy, chromy and blingy, this family-hauler makes you feel sexy, too. Close the door and shut out the chaos of the world in one of the very few cars that can make metallic brown look good.
7. Audi R8: Call the sitter! Nothing can revive a mom’s self-image like a night (or weekend) out in a supercar. Seriously, this is even better than a great new haircut. In the R8, we knew people were checking out our hot ride, but we could pretend they were looking at us (and we enjoyed every last minute of it).
Nice list ladies! I am very surprised at how family friendly the Clubman is - anyone who's got booster kids should check it out. Of course we all loved the R8 - if I had that and a great new haircut, I'd be in business!
