It started with some fish. First it was the outline of a fish on the back of the car, then there were as many fish as there were people in the family. Awww, cute (wretch). Now the fish have evolved into stick people on the window. You know the ones: mom with her tennis racket, dad with a fishing pole and little Suzy with a big giant bow on top of her head.
There are so many iterations of this trend now I can’t keep up. Why do people do this? Maybe I’m paranoid, but I don’t want every Tom, Dick and Harry knowing how many kids I have and whether they’re girls or boys. Does this bother anyone else?
I think maybe the sheer popularity of these unsophisticated stickies is part of the repulsion to me. Do we all have to be the same? Personally, I like to be unique. I think I’d stomach the stickies better if someone came up with a cheeky version. Maybe Suzy could wear a skull and cross bones T-shirt and combat boots. Mom’s hair would be a mess, and she’d have a coffee mug welded to her hand. Dad could use some hip-ifying as well, but I haven’t figured out how to do that at my own house, let alone in the stick-figure world.
Am I alone in this? Who else out there thinks these decals need to go away?
I completely agree and was actually looking for the anti-stick-people stickers when I happened upon this posting.
I want stick figures that go like this:
A man, a woman, a child with a red circle and slash through it (meaning no children), a ring with the same through it (meaning we're not married) then two dogs, an equal sign then a heart. Meaning, not married, no kids, two dogs and guess what? We're fricking ecstatic. I'm sure that'll offend a few moms who post here but I'm just speaking out on how annoying the stickers are to me. This things are this decade's Baby On Board sign. Bleh! Who CARES?

I'm a mom - no offense taken. I don't like the stickers either. But I do like everyone's take on a cheekier version! The Baby on Board analogy is perfect - that's exactly what these are... I can just see the sticker migrating into a full graphic wrap (family scrapbooking your car).

Isn't it sad how an attempt to differentiate from every other identical minivan has morphed into yet another generic expression of conventionalism? We all want so badly to be different that we end up exactly the same.
And I hate the stick families. We need one with a real person stuffing the stick person into a wood chipper, a la Fargo.

I hate the stick figures, but I LOVE the flip-flops, have you seen those?
A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!

I'm thinking of doing a Calvin peeing on a car logo for representing each member of my family. Is that tacky enough? Oooh, or how about Calvin peeing on a stick figure family? I think I'm on to something.

I don't think there's anything wrong with putting these on your car; I just think it's completely tacky.

Now, there is stick family that I'm really fond of and since I'm not sure how you ladies are about language I'll be slightly elusive. But they've got the whole family's name on there along with "The *** Family"
Smart, Wise, Dumb, and...
Hm, I can't remember the last one. But it always gives me a giggle. ;-)

call me weird but I hate all kinds of stickers on car windows. I started off scared by the people who displayed stickers proclaiming to be proud gun owners or members of some fraternal police orders .. then I realized that all stickers (even from groups I agree with) can be inflammatory at some times.
Now if I could only find something that said:
"Honk if you hate car stickers too"

Calvin Peeing on the stick family - hee, hee. So Tacky.
This just goes to show the number of ways to annoy us with stickers is immense. Thanks for the comments.

Who cares! You should be paying more attention to the road...not the stickers on peoples car!

What's the big deal. Don't sweat the small stuff. To each their own and all that stuff. Everyone is different and that's why it's great to be able to
CHOOSE what we do or don' like or want. I don't like any stickers on my truck but I do enjoy reading and seeing the unique and humorous ones on others cars. God Bless the U.S.A..

I totally agree. I have always been opposed to those stickers. I even disagree with the stickers of the sports theme with the child's name. Like you said, maybe we are paranoid but I don't want strangers knowing my son's name or advertise that I have a child so that I can be an easy target for whatever criminals are out there.
