Video: Chief Mom vs. Suburban Dad at the Chicago Auto Show

Feb 20 2008 by Kristin Varela

KickingTires collides with Mother Proof at the Chicago Auto Show, as Chief Mom Kristin Varela takes on Suburban Dad Patrick Olsen in a test of wits, cunning and parenting skill. The contest pits the two parenting heavyweights in an epic race to quickly and safely load a Hyundai Veracruz with a kid and a day’s worth of shopping. Sure, Kristin’s children are closer to the “loading” age, but Patrick has years of seniority and experience on her. Who takes the top prize in this battle of Goliath vs. Goliath? Check out today’s video to find out.

Cheap shot, Chief Mom!

I’m sure you’re a great Dad… despite loosing.

After much speculation that Chief Mom did not play by the rules I went beck to the original footage. After some slow motion viewing I discovered her mistake. It seems that Kristin did NOT start the contest buckled in to her seat like the rules Specified.  Suburban Dad did however follow all the rules.

Interesting…

Oooh!  Who needs wardrobe malfunctions with this kind of juicy scandal!

Dads everywhere are demanding a rematch!

It’s a scam and don’t you believe what Eric says!  I had my seatbelt fastened to begin with (I had one hand on the buckle release and the other hand posed to quickly escape the wrath of the belt).  I’m a rule follower, people!
