Full-Body Bib

Poi Wear Great for Laundry-Plagued Moms, Drive-Through Snackers

My son has recently taken to trying to feed himself, which means that both his clothing and my kitchen floor are becoming consistently dirtier. We have a dog who can clean up the floor, but Harry’s clothes are a different story. Bibs don’t cover enough of him to make a difference, so it’s often me, a bottle of OxiClean and a pile of stained clothes at the end of the day.

You can imagine my happiness, then, when I found the Hi-Chair Bib by Poi Wear: A full-body bib that covers my son down to his toes. The folks at Poi Wear say the bib will keep children’s clothes clean and that it’s “stage appropriate for children learning to feed themselves.” Hot damn, this could be love at first sight!

With these promises in mind, I decided to put the Hi-Chair Bib to the ultimate test by giving my son a chocolate cupcake, covering him with the bib and letting him go at it. Overall, the Hi-Chair Bib performed pretty well; Harry’s clothes were definitely much cleaner than they otherwise would have been.

The bib is lightweight; you can machine wash and dry it, it has a nice water-repellent lining and it fits children ages 6 months to 3 years. It also has a split for the legs so it can easily go around the high chair safety bar. It’s wider than normal bibs, which Harry definitely needs, given his ability to get food all the way around his little torso. Perhaps best of all, the Hi-Chair Bib is offered in 50 colors and patterns, so there’s one to fit everyone’s style. It comes in a cute little organza bag with a colorful ribbon, which means it would make a great, original gift to give to friends. My only complaint is that it doesn’t cover the arms, and my son’s are always covered in food at the end of a meal. I can’t be alone in this; arm coverage would make this bib perfect.

The real icing on the cake here is that the bib was so popular with some customers that they asked bib-creator Janice Naehu to create an adult line of bibs for people who eat in their cars. Janice is no slacker, so she promptly invented Cuisine Catchers: Bibs for adults who like to chow down while driving. Hilarious. Just picture looking over at a stoplight and seeing the driver next to you chatting on his cell, eating a big ol’ burrito and wearing a bib. Now that would make my day — heck, it might even make me forget about the big pile of laundry I have waiting for me at home.

Now if they'd just come up with something to help guard against apple sauce as hair product, we'd be golden.

It needs full-length sleeves, too! I am forever trying to get stains out of little girls' sleeves. Oh how I wish I could sew . . .
