The Holy Grail of Diaper Bags

Tested: 7/1/2006 to 7/20/2006

Reese Li Bags

How often do we try to make a standard purse do double-duty as a diaper bag?  I’ve attempted to convert various purses, messenger bags and tote bags, all to no avail.  Call me picky, but I just can’t force quilted pink polyester to fit my personal style.

Wasteful diaper bag spending is officially a thing of the past! I have found the Holy Grail of diaper bags, mamas. Now, it might be pricy compared to the quilted pink polyester ones, but not nearly as much as the combined total of all my other not-quite-a-diaper-bag purse purchases.

The Reese Li Cambridge bag doesn’t look like a diaper bag at all, and I love it so much I will continue to carry it even after the kids are out of diapers. Sporting nine interior pockets, the Cambridge bag also features a zippered “dirty duds pouch” and changing pad. Eight of the 9 pockets are open and line the inside of the bag, and there’s one covert zippered pocket, leaving a large space in the center for a change of clothes, book, toys, whatever. The side pockets house diapers, wipes, cell phones, pens, wallets, bottles (Avent-size, no less) with pockets leftover to spare. In addition, an exterior pocket is the perfect size for some mindless magazines or a notepad.

Since we’re in the business of test driving cars here at Mother Proof, I especially appreciate the attached hook that so perfectly secures my test car keys and keeps them from getting lost at the bottom of my life, I mean bag. The straps are infinitely adjustable and removable and can be hooked onto the back of a stroller, grocery cart, or luggage cart at the airport. Despite carrying my world in this bag, it never appears or feels bulky. It’s just the right size for some of our smaller stature mom-reviewers who are otherwise overwhelmed with huge bags. It never looks maxed-out or tired (even if I do).

The Reese Li Cambridge bag seems to be made of something indestructible. I’m certain it’s not Kevlar or Gore-Tex or stainless steel, but it sure acts like it. I can wipe anything off the bag and it literally looks brand new. I have carried this puppy around the pool, movie theaters, parks and the trunk and floor of my car all summer. It still looks like I got it yesterday. The Cambridge bag also has nickel feet on the bottom, so it always stands up straight and contact with the floor is minimized. How thoughtful!

I am so happy a bag like this is out there. Finally, something even anti-diaper-bag-moms can carry with glee.
