Fashion Meets Function (Finally)

Fleurville

Du Du Dunna – meet George Jetson, Jane his wife… At first glance, the Sling Tote by Fleurville would be perfect for Judy Jetson. With its futuristic “flubber-like” material, the tote combines style and function. Not only does the tote repel liquid spills (including those from baby), but the fabric choices are stylish making the bag easy to accessorize with; and seriously, as moms, we need to look good!

In addition to the exterior of the tote repelling those nasty daily oops, the designers at Fleurville have lined the bag with a material that is easy to clean. This comes in handy when formula is spilled: swoop with a quick wipe and it’s magically clean. Don’t you just love those handy dandy baby wipes?

Speaking of baby wipes and the inside of the Sling Tote, this bag is packed with an assortment of compartments ranging from typical to BAM! As always, there is the place to store the baby wipes, diapers, and bottles… However, to expand upon these incidentals, the design team added an elastic toped pocket to keep things where they are supposed to be, and an insulated bottle holder making this bag perfect for short outings. You know, keeping the hot side hot and the cool side cool (oops, a bad flashback to a late 80’s McDonalds commercial). Back to the 00’s: In addition, the tote provides a see through case for the beloved baby wipes, and a handy-dandy, fleece-lined, scratch guard pocket to store my sunglasses.

Being a first-time mom with a newborn, I feel that this bag is lacking the internal cubic footage that I need to carry my life around in. I believe that placing a few extra diapers – and call me crazy – a change of clothing for that big “blow out” is an essential part of a diaper bag. So this bag is best suited for the second child when, I’m told, moms stop lugging their whole world around. Maybe that’s why it’s called a “tote” rather than a “diaper bag,”

The tote (we will reframe from the term diaper bag) comes with innovative attachments allowing it to be hooked to the stroller. Although it is slightly difficult to attach to my stroller, it’s an extremely creative and clever idea. With that said, I am not the most patient person with inanimate objects, so most the time I end up just throwing the tote in the stroller but, hey, what an idea!  It is a great feature for those long shopping trips because I can use my stroller to hold the purchases (forget about the kid!).

I am also very impressed by the little key holder, making it nearly impossible lose my keys (notice the key word “nearly.”)

In all, I find the tote fashionable, manageable and perfect for quick little outings. I might even continue to use this after the baby’s out of diapers, just as a day bag.

Comments

Thanks for your real-life review of this bag. I'm trying do decide if I should spring for it or not. I'm ending the diaper era (my fourth is almost two) but I still need something big enough to hold diapers, wipes, Epipens, camera, and purse items for day trips. Being able to use it as a regular bag eventually would definitely be a plus for me. Enjoyed your review!
