Diapees

What is it with me that makes me think I’m some sort of craft diva? I sure act like one. Take, for example, my reaction when first checking out the new Diapees & Wipees. It is a fabric pouch with a flap and Velcro closure in which you can stash a few diapers along with a wipes case. That’s it. I could totally make it myself. So simple! Never you mind that I don’t have a sewing machine. Shoot honey, I have a GLUE GUN.

OK, I need to be honest with myself. I will never make a fabric pouch for my diapers and wipes; which is why I’m kinda glad someone else will. It’s a pretty nice thing to have, it keeps all the diapers and wipes corralled so they don’t do that weird expando-diaper thing where they double in size in your bag and trap coins, lint and small animals. I realize with the Diapees & Wipees pouch that I have all this room, and I can even carry a smaller bag now! I know. I couldn’t believe it either. Also, when I’m whipping my wallet out of my large bag (with the large zipper that enables anyone around me to see its contents) no one can see the diapers and wipes. Just a cute little bag in there containing, well, anything as far as anyone else is concerned.

The whole problem I have with being a pseudo-craft diva is that I justify being cheap by thinking that someday I’ll make a Diapees & Wipees sort of thing. Why do I do this? With Diapees &Wipees I can do diaper duty in style for about $14.99. They come in myriad fabric styles (over 18 of them). Lord knows, I’ve spent way more money than that in the name of style. The brochure also tells me that “Diapees & Wipees were also named one of the hot new baby products at ‘Hollywood’s Baby Shower’ in New York City on September 7, 2005. The invitation\-only event showcased the latest and greatest products to hit Hollywood as well as celebrity favorites.” Do you mean to tell me Julia Roberts might be using Diapees & Wipees? I’ll take two, you marketing wizards!

What am I trying to say? Feel free to splurge and spend the 15 bucks for the Diapees & Wipees if you’ve got a little extra dough. Really. You will buy at least $20 in baggies to accomplish this task, otherwise. How long do parents carry diapers around? Not having to flash changing-table goods or dig around them every time something else is needed is pretty nice. Save the glue gun for Halloween costumes.
